JAKARTA, Cilacap.info English">CILACAP.INFO – Vice President Ma’ruf Amin received Idul Fitri greetings from Singapore Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat during a telephonic conversation at his official residence in Jakarta, Thursday.
Amin expressed gratitude for greetings and attention given by Singaporean government to Indonesia in welcoming Idul Fitri day. He also updated deputy prime minister on latest condition in Indonesia as holy day draws to a close.
“Thank you for taking time to extend Idul Fitri greetings. Hopefully, celebrations this year would bring blessings and peace for us all. However, in wake of COVID-19 pandemic, Eid celebrations will be different for all Muslims in world, including in Indonesia and Singapore,” Amin told Deputy PM Keat.
Amin pointed to no homecoming traditions followed this year unlike years before. However, change in tradition this year in no way takes away from true essence of Idul Fitri for Indonesians in midst of a pandemic.
Hopes ride high on this Eid also ushering in deeper partnership between Indonesia and Singapore.
“I am certain that this year Idul Fitri can also offer a good momentum for (intensifying relations) between both countries to mutually help one another and work together to address widespread impact of COVID-19,” he emphasized.
Amin also sent his regards to Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and President Halimah Yacob. (Antara)
